Tilt Shift Photography

Been seeing some interesting pictures floating around the last week or so where people take a picture of a real scene, but it’s done in a way so it looks like a very detailed model.

For example, check out the pictures on these sites:

Being a dork, I started digging into the “how-to” side of things and found a really informative site…

Peeing Statues

These Czech animatronic statues realistically urinate on the trough before them, moving their hips and organs in concert. Their “pee” spells out quotes from famous Prague residents.

While they are peeing, the two figures move realistically. An electric mechanism driven by a couple of microprocessors swivels the upper part of the body, while the penis goes up and down. The stream of water writes quotes from famous Prague residents.

Visitor can interupt them by sending SMS message from mobile phone to a number, displayed next to the sculptures. The living statue then ‘writes’ the text of the message, before carrying on as before.

Pageant of the Masters

Went to the Pageant of the Masters last night in Laguna Beach, and it was pretty awesome (like it always is). The only really annoying thing with it is all the shows are sold out 9 months in advance every year (but I guess that’s a good thing, because if it was lame, no one would want to go).

If you don’t know what it is, you should visit the site, because it’s just too hard to actually explain. The quick explanation is it’s actors dressed up like people within works of art. It’s so good you can’t tell the one that has actors in it from the real works of art.
