Chargers Treat Patriots Like Bitches

The San Diego Chargers played a game in Foxborough against the New England Patriots at home. For those that don’t know, the Patriots are the defending Super Bowl champions (have also won 3 of the last 4 Super Bowls). And have not lost at home in 21 straight game (their last loss at home was against the Jets on December 22, 2002, so it’s been awhile).

Anyway, the San Diego Chargers ended that streak today and treated them like their red-headed stepchild (especially in the 2nd half where the Chargers outscored the Patriots 24-0). The final score was 41-17 Chargers. 🙂

  1. You have to remember that the loss of one your own, former Charger Rodney Harrison, played a big part in this loss last Sunday for New England, considering he plays the role of another linebacker for New England in the running game, as well as helping out on deep pass plays. Harrison has been terrific helping out against the run and now that he’s gone that’s a loss they probably can’t overcome. So far it’s pretty clear that his play and attitude on the defensive side of the ball is going to be sorely missed.

It’s funny, I said a couple of years ago that the fact the Chargers were able to get both Tomlinson and Brees in the same draft was brilliant, and that I thought they’d be terrific for years to come. Fortunately it’s worked out, although I’m surprised at how well Brees has dealt with the fact that San Diego hasn’t exactly warmed up to giving him a long-term deal. I think the fact that they’re trying to be cute with Rivers is foolish, considering the fact they should know by now what they have in Brees. You have a terrific team as is and should be looking forward to an enjoyable finish to this season, and hopefully you’ll enjoy plenty of success heading into the postseason. Tomlinson has become what many felt that Marshall Faulk was, although I feel he’s a better back than Faulk. He’s more punishing in the backfield, where Faulk has been more of a ‘finesse’ back.

Just a thought, from someone who covers the Patriots on a larger scale 😉 Good luck from here on out. It’s enjoyable to read the thoughts from outside the AFC East, and also from someone who has a great site like DigitalPoint.com!
