First Woman With Bionic Arm

I can’t wait until you can just cut off your own arms and legs and get some of these things by choice. 🙂

Mitchell, who lives in Ellicott City, is the fourth person — and first woman — to receive a “bionic” arm, which allows her to control parts of the device by her thoughts alone. The device, designed by physicians and engineers at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, works by detecting the movements of a chest muscle that has been rewired to the stumps of nerves that once went to her now-missing limb.

  1. Absolutely amazing….scary but amazing.

Watching the “Six Million Dollar Man” like 20 years ago (holy crap I’m getting old), who would have thought that we might have a real six million dollar man someday.

This world is getting to the point, that if we can dream it up…it’ll become a reality at some point in time.

  2. fourth person she is of total.

I think it was 4 years back the 1st person got a bionic arm which was more eye-catching than this…

    Anyone remember that?
