First I got wired, then someone came along and slashed me, then someone dugg me, then I was farked by someone I hardly know. After basking in the afterglow, a vampire came by and slashed me (again!) and told me I was delicious.
The last 24 hours saw more traffic to my blog than any other day (it was a good stress test for WordPress, and my caching mechanism seems to have worked well).
But here’s the low down… Wired Magazine issued their August issue in the last few days, which had an article about the whole MPAA lawsuit in there. Slashdot picked it up, and made it’s front page. Digg then picked it up (front page there too) and it was one of the most popular stories for the week within a few hours. Then Fark picked it up and it was a front page story there too.
Now here’s the funny part… today Slashdot is running a front page story about how popular that Slashdot article was yesterday. 🙂
Looks like it also made the front of del.icio.us too.
The Important Part

The reason why that article is posted is because after The Pirate Bay got raided two months ago it turned into a political issue because of the upcoming elections. And we’ve had people being forced to pay 16 000 kronor (about 2200 dollars) for uploading one movie after going to court (where among the evidence they used screen caps). As someone else said we’ve started a party (Piratpartiet) that will take the fight to where the laws are made (where you really have a chance to make a difference).
Anyway, here’s my superfast translation (yeah, it’s prolly full of errors… so sue me ;)):

Refuses settlement with movie industry – is ready to spend millions on lawyers.
IT-millionaire Shawn Hogan is being accused by the American movie industries lobby organization MPAA for illegally downloading a movie.
When t happened Shawn Hogan did something unexpected – he denied and refused settlement. Now it will be settled in court.
Hogan, a thirty year old software developer turned millionaire, refuses to acknowledge that he has downloaded the movie “Meet The Fockers” via Bittorrent. Hogan claims that he’s innocent and that he owns the movie on DVD. That’s why he immediately refused MPAAs offer of settlement – pay 2 500 dollars, a bit over 18 000 kronor, to avoid being sued.
A while later MPAA returned, now with a settlement offer of 3 500 dollars, a bit over 25 000 kronor. Hogan still wasn’t interested.
“See you in court” said MPAA and that’s where the case will end up. Because Shawn Hogan wants to get sued, and thinks that he can afford to take the fight with the movie industry.
Innocently accused
It’s not about illegal filesharing, but the fact that Hogan considers himself innocently accused and questions by which right the movie industry can determine his guilt by finding his IP-address in a filesharingnetwork – specially considering the widespread leaching on others wireless networks.
He thinks that the movie industry uses threats about lawsuits to get people to confess illegal filesharing and pay a settlement fee – without the cases ever being tried in court.
– All these people accept what amounts to extortion and I want to end that, says Hogan to the site Zeropaid.com.
They abuse the system
Shawn Hogan says to Wired.com that he believes that the attorney fees alone will surpass 100 000 dollar – over 727 000 kronor – but that it’s worth the money.
– They abuse the system, he says. I could spend millions on this.

Search any tld’s Google News for you name and you’re there. Most importantly, Der Spiegel, which is a big ass German mainstream newspaper. I think that if the US conventional media picks up on this they’re in even bigger trouble.
