At the beginning of last November, I had the idea to do an automatic geolocation system for blog/website owners called Geo Visitors.
This blog got quite a bit of traffic in the last 24 hours (because of a front-page digg). Anyway, check out what the maps look like for visitors to this blog in the last 24 hours… It’s crazy how much traffic digg can bring you in a short amount of time. Thankfully my quick little caching mechanism I did for WordPress last time I had something in digg, held up (last time WordPress was thrashing my servers because of the traffic).
If you want to check out the map in realtime (or use it for your own blog/site), click here.
i like the guy over there in russia; hahah.
I am truly amazed at the number of Digg users in New York! It is like a swarmp of bee hives situated near the coast.
In the World Map, it is pretty interesting to note that most of the users come from UK and US. Very interesting…
wow, this is truly amazing look at the whole world thats intense… digg.com made it big real bigg
I’m disappointed in the exclusion of Sweden…
“pretty interesting to note that most of the users come from UK and US. Very interesting…”
i dont find that interesting, the articles at digg are in english…so it is going to be popular at english speaking countries
What about Canada *tear* Actually it looks like my area (Southern Ontario) is about as packed as NY… of course My area is 1/3 of the provice where NY is a City, so it’s all in scale of course =P
@Keith: The fact that most visitors come from the UK and US must surely only be interesting to the simplest of minds. Digg is an English language website – and guess what? They speak French is France, Spanish in Spain and English in the UK and US!
It’s mainly the US and UK because they are two english speaking countries.
awww aww dose liddle ppl down in south africa… hey wait… i’m not the only one on the very tip am i?!
I wish I was on the Lake front like the map shows!
What’s Europe for you? No Sweden, no half Italy, no Greece and NO SPAIN!!
Look at the northern half of Belgium though… Packed with users, yet most of them speak Flemish!
Doesn’t look like North Carolina is represented very well.
Looks like most of Africa, Russis, and Mongolia don’t have computers or Internet!
This makes me happy 🙂

hmm that’s pretty cool, i think I can see myself there 😀
From what I see, Seems like less than half the world or probably one third of the world is into digg. There is still room to grow!
Does any one know how digg does those google ads so they are just one large one at the top?
Jump on to any digg article to see what i mean (cant post links yet)
Wow that is crazy cool.
Thanks for sharing these COOL stats!
Interesting pics. I’m surprised some are on the oceans?
Hi!
very interesting stuff! Do you have any numbers on that?
Like shw many percent from the States, how many from the East Coast? How many from Europe etc?
Cheers,
Chris
I think digg’s traffic is great. It is about 8 times comparing to splashdot. Digg is popular to the world including Western, Eastern, and Asian countries.
Thanks for sharing this great article.
Jenny.
cool almost real time traffic 🙂
