Hi Shawn,
I stumbled on your article [volkswagen stole my idea] and i find it very interesting.
My name is Sola Kosoko.I am a 27 year old advertising practitioner[copywriting] based in Lagos Nigeria.
I have always had this knack for being creative especially as regards developing new product/service ideas and improving existing ideas. But making that potential marketable [in a country where entrepreneurs areneither encouraged or empowered] has been a big challenge. In other words, you are either exploited or ignored.
One of my service ideas is currently being used [i’m not getting any credit though]so i believe I have seeds that can grow into flowers [ or weeds as the case may be] – but i’ll never know if i do not plant.
I’m wondering though…how does selling ideas play out? Recently, I got to share my ideas [among which is a laundry product that saves water] with Bill seidel [ of AmericaInvents] . He likes some of them but since i do not have prototypes or protection for these ideas they [America Invents] will not deal with me.
So I’m wondering, is there a place in the “ideas factory” for me? Considering that i can not develop my ideas myself and I’m Miles away from the USA[getting patents], do i just let them rot in my head?
Forgive me if I am asking too much.
I eagerly await your response.
Have a great day.
